Hammering out homes!

Thrivent Builds and El Reno projects meet May with success – Check out our upcoming Women Build!

Thrivent Builds

Many thanks to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and all our local Lutheran friends for another great Thrivent Builds project – our sixth in five years!  Another beautiful, energy efficient, and affordable home was built over three weeks from April 10 through May 1, and all the volunteers did an outstanding job.  See photos here!

We are very grateful for the continuing support of Thrivent Financial and the Lutheran community in central Oklahoma.  You have all made such a tremendous difference for Quin B. and her family and for all the others whose lives you have touched through your work with Central Oklahoma Habitat – the benefits will continue for generations!

Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International. Thrivent Builds is designed to involve Thrivent members and Lutherans in helping provide a “hand up” to people who lack decent shelter, offering them a path to greater economic independence. Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is Habitat’s largest single source of private funding, constructing more than 2,000 homes in the U.S. and around the world since 2005. For more information, visit http://www.thriventbuilds.com.

El Reno Blitz Build

What a great job our El Reno community partners did building a beautiful new home from the ground up in just two weeks April 17 through May 1!  This was our eighth El Reno project, and we appreciate very much the City of El Reno, King Electric, Brakefield Plumbing, Michael Yost, ClimateMaster, OG&E, Fitzhugh Termite & Pest Control, and Capitol Glass & Mirror as well as Paul Atkins, Chuck and Dottie Gauntlett, John Irvin, Bob Jones, James Hubbard, Joe Mark, Bill Campbell, the Redlands Community College Baseball Team, and all the other generous volunteers who helped make this such an outstanding project.  Many thanks, too, to those who so kindly fed us:  Trinity Lutheran Church, First Christian Church, First Baptist Church, Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Life Community Church, Heaston Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Life Church in Yukon, as well as Pizza Hut, Burger King, and McDonald’s.
Life will never be the same for Stephen and Marie D. and their children.  Thank you!

Calling all WOMEN. . . . No construction skills? No problem!  Lowe’s can help!

Ever thought you’d like to join in a Habitat build project but didn’t know how to hammer a nail straight or use a T-square or that measuring thing that’s a triangle?  Well, it’s not hard if someone just shows us how to do it!  Pick up some basic skills that you can use for the rest of your life at the Lowe’s on N. May at NW 38th Street on Tuesday, June 8, at 6:30 pm.

Then, you’ll be ready to volunteer in this year’s Women Build!

Online volunteer registration now available!

Register online for your next Habitat workday through Volunteer Up on our website at www.CentralOklahomaHabitat.org!
