Extreme Dog House Competition!
This past summer (2009) Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity formed a special partnership with Oklahoma City Summer Classic Dog Shows, one of the top five dog shows in the country which is comprised of the Oklahoma City and Mid-Del-Tinker Kennel Clubs, to begin the Habitat for Canines project. Through Habitat for Canines 75 Habitat homeowners received dog houses for their beloved pets built by OKC Summer Classic Dog Shows and other volunteers in a special workday in May. The special dog house workday was just part one of the Habitat for Canines project and as promised part two, the Dog House Design Contest, is scheduled to begin Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Penn Square Mall. Gather up your family, friends, and co-workers to “unleash” your inner artist and build a canine castle to enter in the competition. Entry forms should be submitted no later than February 28, 2010 and are available at the bottom of this page.
If you are concerned about what to do with your finished product because the closest you have ever gotten to a canine companion is a virtual pet on your computer you can still demonstrate your flair for the fabulous and show your community spirit by donating your one-of-a-kind design for the Extreme Dog House Raffle that will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Penn Square. If you prefer to leave the art to the artists, but would like to participate in your own way you can enter the drawing by purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to win designer digs for your own deserving furry friend. Raffle tickets will be available for $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00 and funds raised will benefit the Central Oklahoma Habitat mission.
