Arvest Bank
Arvest Bank employees go from pushing paper to moving mountains
By John Fowler, Construction Superintendent
Our thanks go out to Arvest Bank for fully funding and supplying the volunteer manpower for the 2009 Arvest Blitz Build. We started the first day of the build with a slab and about forty very eager volunteers. One of them humorously commented, “The worst injury any of us has had is a paper cut from pushing paper all day.” After that comment, I wasn’t sure if these bankers could meet the challenge, but indeed they would!
Not only would they meet the challenge but they would exceed it! By the end of the second day, Arvest was a full day ahead of schedule. They continued to amaze the Habitat staff and even set records. I shared with Joe Cardenas, Vice-president of Business Development, that after most builds I can look back and pick out a handful of volunteers that really went above and beyond, but not so with this group. Every volunteer that came out represented Arvest in an outstanding way. They were very motivated and took a great deal of pride in all they did, regardless of the task. From the grunt work of a shovel to the business end of a hammer, they were willing and ready to work towards the central goal of building one of the best built, most energy efficient houses in Oklahoma for a very deserving family.
As the weeks of the blitz passed it became clear that these bankers were more than paper pushers - they were indeed mountain movers! When this group came together they accomplished great things. Once again thank you, Arvest Bank, from all of the Habitat staff. May God richly bless Arvest Bank and all of its employees.
Thank you, Arvest Bank!
