7-Eleven and the “100-Hour House”
In December 2007, 7-Eleven Stores of Oklahoma and community volunteers partnered with Central Oklahoma Habitat to celebrate our great State's Centennial by building a house in just 100 hours!
7-Eleven Stores, a tremendous supporter of Central Oklahoma Habitat for years, had already provided major funding for two houses in 2007, but when they heard the idea, they were on board with another contribution of $25,000!
Monday, December 10,
was the designated framing day, but the weathermen were forecasting severe ice
storms for that day. So, Habitat started on the 100 hours early and got
the house dried in before the storms hit and shut everything down. After
the ice melted enough to go on, work continued and the house was completed in
the remainder of the 100 hours.
Central Oklahoma Habitat's "100-Hour House” now stands, home to Jennifer F. and
her two daughters.
Many thanks to 7-Eleven Stores of Oklahoma and all the other outstanding volunteers and donors who helped with this project!
