Florals for Spring

While a fresh bouquet of sunflowers or peonies from the local farmers market is a great short term solution, update your decor with some thrifted items  from Habitat For Humanity’s ReStore. Not sure what you’d even be looking for? Here are just a few ideas to get you started.

How about taking a lamp with simple chic lines, but perhaps a dated shade, and revamping it? You could either cover the shade with some beautiful floral fabric, or you could even wrap the base in a monochromatic floral print for a fresh take on this idea. Add to your guest room, and you’re left with a floral look that requires no watering!

How about stacking plates and candle holders, then adding fresh blooms to create a stunning center piece? Ideal for bridal showers, baby showers, or even just updating your counter with some spring stems, it’s the easiest DIY in the book, requiring just stacking and some craft glue. After you pick up some beautiful plates, of course. Come wander the aisles at ReStore to find ones that work together.

Need something with more function? Consider grabbing a beautiful frame from the ReStore, and instead of framing a photo, frame some floral fabric. With the glass back in place, add a white board marker, and hang in your kitchen for the prettiest note center in the neighborhood. Now there’s no excuse for forgetting to pick up eggs!

Lastly, consider finding a beautiful ornate frame, and create some 3D art for your entry way. The bigger the better here, as a large statement piece is going to be more impactful than a smaller piece of art. You can remove the glass, and insert beautiful chicken wire for that Fixer Upper look, or you can choose to wrap the backing with smooth linen fabric, or even burlap. Then, you can hot glue faux flowers in any cluster that appeals to you. The beauty of this is your ability to choose flowers and colors that fit your personal tastes and decor. You could even choose to leave the glass on, and affix the flowers directly to the glass, for a high shine look. This would also work well with a mirror, if you find one at the ReStore with a great frame.
