Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity will celebrate Isaac K.’s new Habitat house with a home dedication at 2 p.m. TODAY, Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Cornerstone Creek.

Isaac is a hardworking young registered nurse at a local heart hospital who plans to live in his newly purchased house with his partner, Bri, two dogs, and one cat.

“My need for a Habitat home is that I have been a tenant for several years now, moving from place to place due to rising rent prices,” Isaac stated in his New Home Construction program application. “Where I currently rent has a lot of issues. I would also like to live in a place where I feel safe and Cornerstone Creek feels like a great fit.”

“This house will allow me and my family to call this house our permanent home,” he wrote.

Through his 100 required sweat equity hours, Issac said he developed a strong connection to Habitat’s mission.

“I’ve come to learn that I really enjoy the Critical Home Repair program and new home builds at Cornerstone Creek,” he said. “I enjoy spending my time there working with my hands and learning new skills that I can put to use in my everyday life.”

COHFH Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland said Isaac’s beautiful and energy-efficient home is Habitat’s 1,156th home built since 1990.

“Our Cornerstone Creek affordable housing development is filling up fast,” Felton Gilliland said. “We believe we’ll have all 92 houses designated for Phase I of our building plan completed within the next several months. We’re now raising funds to support the infrastructure needed for the 210 homes designated for Phase II at Cornerstone Creek.

“But we need the public’s help as we move forward to provide affordable housing in Central Oklahoma. Please consider donating today.”
