Before the wife leaves for U.S. Army basic training to serve as a combat medic specialist, the couple will celebrate their Habitat home dedication—an event that will include OKCPD officers who helped frame their home during National Faith & Blue Weekend in October 2025.

Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity will dedicate a new, energy-efficient and affordable home on Thursday with a young professional couple who immigrated to the U.S. from Cuba, along with several Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) officers who helped frame the home in October 2025.

Raudel J. and LisMary M. will celebrate their home dedication at 3 p.m. TODAY, March 12. Their home is located in Cornerstone Creek in northwest Oklahoma City. The house was framed by the couple and over 50 OKCPD officers during Faith & Blue Weekend in October 2025. OKCPD Capt. Michelle Henderson said the house framing in October marked the sixth year that the department has partnered with Habitat during Faith & Blue.

Cornerstone Creek is special to us because we deeply value a community where hardworking homeowners are invested, proud and building better lives for their loved ones,” Henderson said. “COHFH neighborhoods touch our hearts because, in every family we see there, we see the hopes, struggles and dreams we hold ourselves.”

For Raudel and LisMary, their new home is the goal they held onto through every challenge of starting over in America. Married for seven years, they left Cuba three years ago, driven by hope for a better life. In Cuba, LisMary studied medicine, and Raudel was a university professor, but despite their hard-won achievements, they said owning a home there felt out of reach.

“Even with education, we never thought we could own our home,” they wrote in their Habitat application. “A home is a sanctuary: a place to be at peace, dream and share what matters. Our goal is to build a foundation so we can continue our education, contribute to the community and reach goals possible now only through programs like Habitat’s.”

Raudel now works in maintenance at Healthcare Laundry Service. LisMary recently finished nursing school and is preparing for basic training in the U.S. Army as a combat medic specialist. She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree to eventually become a U.S. Army officer.

The pair also stated that they plan to have children someday.

Raudel J. and LisMary M. will celebrate their home dedication at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in Cornerstone Creek.
