How to Shop for Father’s Day at ReStore

By COHFH Team

COHFH-Post-41

Father’s Day is a wonderful day designed to celebrate the father figures in our lives.

It’s the perfect time to to take some time to think about them and all the hard work they do, whether you are celebrating your spouse, father, stepfather, grandfather, mentor or even a caregiver who is meaningful to you.

With Father’s Day fast approaching, it’s also time to be thinking about what to get the special men in your life. This year, skip getting them a generic mass-produced gift you found online, and find them something unique instead. Hop on the Central Habitat for Humanity eBay store for some live auction bidding, or take a trip to the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore to find something special Dad will love.

Have an Open Mind

Shopping at a ReStore is going to be a different experience than going to the mall and buying a gift there. When you are shopping at a ReStore, you want to go to the store with a few different items you would like to find. This is because our ReStore’s inventory is constantly changing, due to the items people are donating. Because of the changing inventory, you’re likely to end up buying an item you did not expect at all. ReStore shops are also the perfect place to find items you can upcycle and transform into something new.

Great gifting finds can include: unique furniture and collectibles, hardware and tools, area rugs, lawn equipment, home improvement items and more.

The Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity ReStores offer previously-owned items for sale at an extremely affordable prices. Our listings range anywhere from small antiques and household decor to gently-used furniture. Proceeds from our sales directly support the construction of affordable homes for limited-income Oklahoma families in need of a hand up, not a handout.

Take Your Time

Whatever day you decide to go Father’s Day shopping, plan a time when you’re not going to be rushed. ReStores have a lot of items, and you don’t want to miss something. Take your time, and give yourself the opportunity to go up and down all the aisles in the store. Also, don’t be afraid to move an item to see what’s hiding behind it. When you do find an item that catches your attention, pick it up and take a closer look. You’ll see that many pieces in the store have a story behind them, and going slowly through the store will give you a chance to see all the unique pieces.

Talk to the ReStore Staff

Since ReStores have a large inventory, many of our shoppers like to stop in regularly and check out the new items. The ReStore staff are there to help you. Feel free to ask about what new items are in stock, or what the top sellers are for gift ideas.
