OKLAHOMA CITY — Marla B., a customer care representative and single mother to three pre-adolescent children (ages 11 to 14), proved Thursday afternoon, Sept. 17, 2025, that resilience and hard work can still pay off during her new home dedication celebration with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) staff, local clergy and members of the community at her house in Cornerstone Creek.

The dedicated mother stated in her COHFH home application that she was raising her children Dallas, Journee, and Eian in a crowded rental while working to create financial stability. She wrote that she believed Habitat would help her family to “significantly improve our financial well-being,” allowing her to save for her family’s future.

“I have faced numerous hardships, but one experience that truly shaped me was my children,” Marla stated. “I was determined to create a better life for us. I have worked tirelessly to provide, and this experience instilled in me a profound sense of resilience and an unwavering belief in the power of hard work.”

After thanking Habitat and the guests for attending her home dedication, Marla later said her children will attend Piedmont, Oklahoma’s excellent schools, and that she plans to work from her new home.
