OKLAHOMA CITY —Women Build 2026 volunteers will help raise the walls as they frame a new affordable home for Chandra B., a single mother of two who is building a new future for her family through Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH).
COHFH’s Women Build 2026 will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. TOMORROW, Saturday, May 16, in Cornerstone Creek, Oklahoma City.

Chandra, 35, is a devoted registered medical assistant at Integris and the loving mother of Kaori, 14, and Ashton, 9. In her heartfelt New Home Construction application, she shared that becoming a Habitat homeowner will finally offer her children what they have longed for—stability, security, and a place filled with love that they can truly call their own.
Chandra expressed her family’s strongest wish: “We simply need a home, our home.” She spoke about wanting to create something permanent for her children and future generations. Her faith and her caring work in medicine inspire her to encourage others, especially those facing life’s toughest moments.

COHFH’s Women Build is an annual event held by the Christian housing ministry and by Habitat affiliates across the U.S. This year’s theme for COHFH is “Build Like a Woman,” and the work will be led primarily by women volunteers and skilled Habitat construction crews.
COHFH Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland said Women Build volunteers come ready to work and often return to continue helping build the Habitat home.
“We have volunteers of all skill levels,” Felton Gilliland said. “Many of our Women Build volunteers help to build the home from start to finish. This not only provides an opportunity for women volunteers to learn construction skills but also builds confidence while helping another woman achieve affordable homeownership. We so appreciate our volunteers, and it is a fun project where volunteers can walk away at the end of the day with the walls up on the new home.”
