OKLAHOMA CITY—Audry C., a paralegal and mother of three, said moving into her new Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity home will be “life-changing” for her and her three children after years of rental headaches, including the last six at a house with sagging floors, pest problems and faulty wiring.

During her Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) home dedication on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Audry received the keys to her newly purchased home from COHFH Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland. She then thanked Habitat, Gateway Mortgage Officer Alba Santiago and home-build sponsor, Comfortworks, for helping to build her new house.

“It has been quite a journey … I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone who made this day possible,” Audry said. “Comfortworks sponsored my home, and Dan Ellis brought his whole group to my framing day – the level of professionalism and teamwork you displayed was unmatched. Thank you, guys, so much, none of this would have been possible without you.”

Comfortworks Inc., a top geothermal HVAC contractor, has installed geothermal systems in hundreds of COHFH’s affordable homes for nearly two decades. During the celebration, Chris and Dan Ellis represented the Comfortworks’ leadership team and accepted a plaque of appreciation from Felton Gilliland. She said she credits Dan Ellis with introducing her and Habitat to geothermal systems’ energy-saving efficiency and benefits.

“Dan Ellis first introduced Habitat to geothermal,” Felton Gilliland said. “He’s why all our houses are geothermal, which means that our families pay about half the money they’d otherwise have to pay on utilities. Thank you, Dan and Comfortworks!”

Habitat has built about 27 of the 91 homes slated for the Cornerstone Creek’s Phase I project. The Christian-housing ministry is now raising money to fund Phase II of the development, which will pay for installing the infrastructure needed to build 210 more affordable homes. When complete, Cornerstone Creek will have 450 new homes, three parks with workout stations and a gazebo. Cornerstone Creek’s residents can also send their children to Piedmont, Oklahoma’s excellent schools.
