Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland prepares to hand Habitat homeowner Bryce B. the keys to their new home in Cornerstone Creek.
A young family of three is now reaping the rewards of affordable Habitat homeownership after months of hard work, fulfilling their sweat-equity volunteer hours by building their own and others’ Habitat homes.
The family plans to move into their new house with their nearly three-year-old son, Cash, and their dog. Bryce celebrated the family’s Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity’s (COHFH) new home dedication on Thursday, April 23, with Habitat staff, community members and local clergy.
For the young parents, homeownership means more than four walls — it means freedom — a yard where their son can play, a place where their dog can roam and a future where their child can blossom.

Bryce and Mikenna wrote that they began building their life together several years ago when they moved into their first apartment as they prepared to welcome their first child. They have worked steadily to create a better future, with Bryce advancing his career as a CDL truck driver and Mikenna recently graduating to become a medical assistant.
“We want our home to be our sanctuary,” Bryce said. “This opportunity is not just for us as parents, but for our children and the generations to come.”
