Happy with Habitat Journey to Homeownership
Iris S. celebrated her Central Oklahoma Habitat new home dedication with several local dignitaries on March 7, 2025, at her house in Cornerstone Creek. Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) Chief Ron C. Bacy and Capt. MichelleHenderson attended as partof the National Faith & Blueinitiative. Habitat Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland recognized National Faith & Blue Weekend’s mission to unite law enforcement and religious leaders. “We are grateful to Capt. Henderson, who has led OKCPD’s Faith & Blue involvement for the past five years, and to Chief Bacy for his department’s dedication to community involvement,” Felton Gilliland said. OKCPD volunteers helped Habitat by framing Iris’s future home. Iris, a Walmart team lead in Yukon, Oklahoma, expressed gratitude for her new home. “I liked the Habitat journey,” Iris said. “It was easy, and they (Habitat) help you throughout the process.” Today, Iris lives in her home with her daughter and disabled sister. Her daughter, Miracle, was the most excited because she now has her room and a backyard where she can play with her dog, November (named for her birthday month).
