Homeowner #1072 – (Story courtesy of KOCO-TV Channel 5) New Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity Homeowners Darin and Alyson S. met in college, but they have had a hard time in the past finding a place that they can easily navigate. Darin is in a wheelchair and Alyson struggles with balance.

Now, they said the new home is life-changing.

“When you rent places, and they have to make it accessible for you, they kind of make you feel like, ‘Ugh, you’re a burden,’ and nobody here at Habitat has done that,” said Alyson. “They say, ‘OK, this is what you need. This is what we’ll do.’”

The racks in the closet of the new home are lower to make things easier for the couple, and the bathroom has a lower sink and cabinets, as well as a place for a wheelchair.
