Homeowner #1081 – Emelia T., the mother of three older boys, said during her home dedication celebration on July 20, 2003, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, that despite many odds, she had faith in God that she would one day own her own home.

“Many people had told me it (homeownership) wouldn’t be possible, but I never lost faith in God,” Emelia T. said. “I know that when God has a plan for you, no obstacles can stand in your way. He is the one that finalizes everything, and I didn’t lose faith.”

Emelia T. said that while raising her three sons, she’s had to be both mother and father to them.

“I knew that in one way or another, it would happen, and I would get my own home,” she said. “God put great people in my path so that this would come true.”

She praised Family Services Administrator Rebecca Kendall, as well as all the Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity staff, donors and volunteers for their efforts on her family’s behalf.

“‘I’m grateful to Habitat that my dream could become a reality,” Emelia T. said. “My heart if full of gratitude for every single person from Habitat.”
