Homeowner #1091 – B and H Construction Foreman Hugo G. brought his four children, ages 24 to 5, to Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity’s home dedication ceremony on Dec. 21, 2023, at the family’s new house in Blanchard, Oklahoma. After Gonzalez and his family received the keys to their new home from Central Oklahoma Habitat Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland, he thanked the community members, other volunteers and Habitat staff that attended his home dedication.

“I’m just so grateful,” Hugo G. said. “May God bring forward all the people who continue to volunteer, and may he continue to pour blessings upon you and the (Habitat) family. May you continue working this vision to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.”

After the celebration, Gonzalez answered questions and took KOCO-TV Channel 5’s Multimedia Journalist Alyse Jones and her TV cameraman on a tour of his new home. The single father of four told the news team that he learned about Habitat when he lived and worked for a nonprofit in Chicago. He said a work friend in Oklahoma suggested he apply with Central Oklahoma Habitat’s New Home Construction program – which allows future homeowners who qualify to buy a Habitat house for cost and without a down payment.

“I applied and within a few weeks, they got back to me, and I was qualified,” he said. I’m just so grateful that God brought me to Oklahoma! I really like the town (Blanchard, Oklahoma).

“I have the experience of driving by; I like it, and I’m very grateful for this moment actually.”
