Mother-Daughter Duo Purchase Habitat’s 2024 Women Build Home

Homeowner #1100 — Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) celebrated two milestones Aug. 28, 2024, when LaRhonda C. and her daughter, Robin C., purchased the organization’s 1,100th home and its 2024 Women Build home.
Family members, COHFH staff and community supporters gathered at the house in northeast Oklahoma City for a home-dedication celebration.
During the dedication, Robin spoke about what the new home would mean for her 9-year-old son, Rashon, who has developmental disabilities. She said she looked forward to watching him play and feel “free to be himself” in their new surroundings.
“Just seeing him happy—that’s enough for me,” Robin said, smiling.

LaRhonda expressed gratitude to Central Oklahoma Habitat and said purchasing the home without a required down payment would help provide greater financial stability for their family.
Vicki Behenna, Oklahoma County district attorney and honorary chair of the 2024 Women Build, joined the family for the celebration. Behenna had previously volunteered alongside members of her office during a Habitat framing event.
“To be able to see a home built from the dirt up to what it looks like now, it is a wonderful thing,” Behenna said.
KOCO 5 reporter Kilee Thomas also attended the dedication and interviewed Robin about the family’s journey to homeownership.
