Diamond W. Shines as First Cornerstone Creek Homeowner
On Sept. 12, 2024, Diamond W. displayed her new house keys as about 40 well-wishers celebrated her becoming the first Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) homeowner in Cornerstone Creek.
“I want to thank everyone for playing a part in my now-forever home, whether you helped by watching my child while I worked or whether it was putting a shingle on my house,” Diamond said. “I just know I’m extremely thankful for you all from the bottom of my heart … especially in this economy with everything going up, but the pay per hour.
“I thank Rebecca [Kendall] for choosing me to have the opportunity — not only to give myself a home but to give my child a home to grow up in. And I want to thank you, Ann [Felton Gilliland], for everything you have done. It is such a blessing!”
With her 14-month-old daughter, Demi, on her hip, Diamond spoke with several television stations and gave friends, family members and other visitors tours of her new, energy-efficient home.
Diamond had worked in Child Protective Services for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for two years. Her new home in Cornerstone Creek also meant Demi would someday be able to attend Piedmont Public Schools.
The dedication was held before Diamond and Demi moved into their new home.
