Young Family Grows Alongside Habitat’s Cornerstone Creek

Alan N. and his wife, Thaysarye N., were a young couple raising their 2-year-old son, Liam, when they purchased their new home in 2024. On Nov. 17, 2024, they celebrated with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) staff, local clergy and community members during a dedication at Cornerstone Creek in Oklahoma City.

Originally from Vietnam, Alan said he met Thaysarye while attending Oklahoma City Community College. They both worked at Teapioca Lounge, part of a Texas-based boba tea franchise, and married in 2019. By 2024, Alan was managing one of the company’s local bubble tea shops.

In their application for the COHFH’s New Home Construction program, Alan wrote that they wanted to live in a safe neighborhood. He said completing the program’s 100 required sweat-equity hours was fun and that he enjoyed meeting other volunteers and staff members.

During the dedication, Thaysarye expressed her appreciation for Habitat’s friendly staff and the family’s new, energy-efficient and affordable home.

“Thank you to the volunteers and everyone who has worked on our home,” Thaysarye said. “Thanks for being patient with us about our child and work. Thank you for our beautiful home.”
