Canadian County Mom of Two Buys ‘Forever’ Home

State of Oklahoma financial analyst Tyisha A. had wanted to purchase a home since her children were toddlers. As the years passed, however, she discovered the math didn’t add up until she partnered with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH).

“Owning a home is a desire that we all equally share within our household,” Tyisha wrote in her Habitat homebuyer program application. “My goal was to give my children a forever home. No matter how old they are and where life takes them, there will always be a road that leads back home.”

Tyisha and her children — Taniya, 20, then a Redlands Community College student, and Antoine, 17, then a Mustang High School student — celebrated purchasing their new, energy-efficient and affordable home during a Dec. 12, 2024, dedication.

“Though my children are older now, being a homeowner someday has always been the topic of discussion when we spend time together,” Tyisha wrote. “I’m looking forward to living in a Habitat neighborhood with those who share similarities and the desire to provide a safe and affordable place to call home sweet home.”
