Local Vocalist/Songwriter Roderick P. In Tune with Central Oklahoma Habitat

Local soul and R&B singer-songwriter Roderick “Rod” P., who performs with Shortt Dogg and the Canterbury Choir, had a new reason to belt out a happy song in December 2024.

Rod, who also worked in property management services, celebrated purchasing a new home from Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) during a Dec. 27, 2024, dedication at Cornerstone Creek in far northwest Oklahoma City.

Rod wrote in his Habitat homebuyer program application that becoming a homeowner had been a lifelong goal.

“I love to cook and put smiles on the faces of the people I love,” Rod wrote. “I look forward to hosting holidays, various family functions and seeing my little nephew and dog run around the backyard.”

Rod expressed gratitude for the guidance he received throughout the homebuying process and for everyone who helped make homeownership possible.

When asked what he liked best about his new, energy-efficient and affordable home, Rod’s answer was simple: “The fact that it is mine.”
