Single Mother Finds Safety and Stability Through Habitat Homeownership

Dania H. balanced her work as a referral coordinator for the Health Alliance for the Uninsured with raising three children who attended Santa Fe South Charter Schools—all while working toward homeownership.

Dania and her children celebrated purchasing their new, energy-efficient and affordable home during a Jan. 23, 2025, dedication at Cornerstone Creek, Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity’s (COHFH) affordable housing development in far northwest Oklahoma City.

In her New Home Construction program application, Dania wrote that she wanted her children to “feel safe” in their new home.

“I’ve been renting for almost four years,” Dania wrote. “Owning a home means having a safe space for my loved ones and me. We are a very united and large family that always supports each other and is very happy.”

During the dedication, Dania said her new home would provide her family with greater stability, security and quality of life. She also thanked Habitat staff and those attending for their support.

“Thank you very much for this opportunity that you have given me and my family,” Dania said.
