Iris S. Celebrates Habitat Journey With Faith & Blue Partners

Iris S. celebrated purchasing her new, energy-efficient and affordable home from Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) during a March 7, 2025, dedication at Cornerstone Creek.

Oklahoma City Police Department Chief Ron C. Bacy and Capt. Michelle Henderson attended as representatives of the National Faith & Blue initiative, which brings law enforcement agencies and faith-based organizations together to serve their communities.

More than 45 OKCPD volunteers had helped frame Iris’ future home during a Faith & Blue event in October 2024.

“We are grateful to Capt. Henderson, who has led OKCPD’s Faith & Blue involvement for the past five years, and to Chief Bacy for his department’s dedication to community involvement,” COHFH Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland said.

Iris, a Walmart team lead in Yukon, expressed gratitude for her new home and the support she received throughout the homebuying process.

“I liked the journey,” Iris said. “It was easy, and they helped you throughout the whole process.”

Iris moved into her home with her daughter, Miracle, and her sister, who has a disability. Miracle was especially excited to have a room of her own and a backyard where she could play with her dog, November—named for her birthday month
