From Addiction to Advocacy: Chase’s Path to Homeownership

By the time Chase P. was 11 years old, substance abuse was already part of his life. A serious car accident during his senior year of high school deepened the struggle, leading to further addiction and legal trouble. At 19, he reached a turning point — and chose recovery.

Determined to rebuild his life, Chase entered the 12–18-month rehabilitation program at Hope Is Alive Ministries. Guided by his faith, mentors, and the structure of the program, he found a renewed purpose.

“Homeownership through Habitat will serve as a launching pad for that future.” — Chase P.

His commitment didn’t stop at his own recovery. In 2021, Chase began working for Hope Is Alive Ministries, helping establish two men’s recovery centers in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Today, he serves as the spiritual care manager for HIA’s Mentoring Homes program, mentoring others who are fighting the same battles he once faced.

In April 2025, Chase reached another major milestone: becoming a homeowner in Cornerstone Creek through Habitat for Humanity’s New Home Construction program.

“By the grace of God, mentorship and an incredible ministry, today I have hope in a future, a family and a career helping people in the community,” Chase said. “I am so extremely blessed to say that homeownership through Habitat will serve as a launching pad for that future.”
