Hope Is Alive Leader Julie Q. Buys a Habitat home.

When a local TV station interviewed Julie Q. this summer at Cornerstone Creek, the Hope Is Alive (HIA) Ministries’ senior program manager expressed her gratitude to Habitat and Malarkey Roofing for giving her a second chance.

Julie says she’s been clean and sober for over seven years after addiction caused her to become homeless and serve time in prison. She credits her time in jail, her faith and HIA Ministries with her recovery.

Today, she helps others through the nonprofit’s soberliving programs.

“Once I got out, the Lord started working and I started making changes,” Julie said. “Step by step, I was able to get my credit better and save money. My great job enabled me to go ahead and apply for this program and I was accepted.”

With steady employment, good credit and Habitat’s partnership, Julie proudly became OKC
Habitat’s 1,133rd homeowner — a testament to resilience, faith and community support.

“I never imagined a future where I’d be standing here as a homeowner,” she said, “but Habitat gave me that chance.”
