Father and Daughter Pool Resources to Purchase Habitat Home

After years of sharing a cramped apartment, Daniela S. and her father, Carlos, decided to combine their incomes and pursue homeownership through Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH).

Daniela, Carlos and Daniela’s mother, Rosa G., celebrated the dedication of their new home with Habitat staff, local clergy and community members on Sept. 11, 2025, at Cornerstone Creek.

Carlos works as a lot porter at Metro Ford, while Daniela is an operations manager at a local CVS store. Daniela said her family moved to the United States from El Salvador about three years before the dedication and learned about Habitat from a relative.

By combining their resources, the father and daughter were able to qualify for Habitat’s New Home Construction program and purchase a home for their family.

After receiving the keys from COHFH Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland, Daniela said their new home represents security, permanence and the progress her family has made since arriving in the United States.

“It’s a miracle for our family,” Daniela said. “We came to this country only a few years ago, and it hasn’t always been easy. But God placed Habitat for Humanity in our path, and now we have a permanent place to call home. We are so grateful to everyone who made this possible.”
