Marla B., a single mother to three pre-adolescent children (ages 11 to 14), proved on Sept. 17 that resilience and hard work can still pay off. during her home dedication celebration with Habitat staff, local clergy and members of the community at her new house in Cornerstone Creek.
She stated in her application that she was raising her children in a crowded rental while working to create financial stability. She wrote that she believed Habitat would help to “significantly improve our financial well-being,” allowing her to save for her family’s future.
“I have faced numerous hardships, but one experience that truly shaped me was my children,” Marla stated. “I was determined to create a better life for us. I have worked tirelessly to provide, and this experience instilled in me a profound sense of resilience and an unwavering belief in the power of hard work.”
After thanking Habitat and the guests for attending her home dedication, Marla said her children will attend Piedmont, Oklahoma’s excellent schools, and said she plans to work from her new home.
