Hard-Working Young Couple, a New Home and a Baby on the Way

Hardworking, dependable, and quick to help with a warm smile, Aidan P. spends his workdays helping Habitat homeowners remain safely in the houhttps://www.cohfh.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Aidan-and-Darby-II-e1785526639397.pngses they love.
But as Aidan, Habitat’s Critical Home Repair field supervisor, and his wife, Darby P., prepare to welcome their first child in fall 2026, they faced a difficult housing challenge of their own.
With Aidan providing the household’s primary income while Darby studies to become a marriage and family therapist, the couple began searching for an affordable home. They soon discovered that prices on the open market placed suitable homes far beyond their reach. Aidan and Darby applied for COHFH’s New Home Construction program and were delighted to learn that they had qualified to purchase a new, energy-efficient and affordable Habitat home.
Like other future Habitat homeowners, the couple completed 100 hours of sweat-equity volunteer work helping to build their own and others’ homes. They also completed one-on-one housing counseling through Neighborhood Housing Services Oklahoma.
On Jan. 22, 2026, Aidan and Darby celebrated the dedication of their new home at Cornerstone Creek with COHFH Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland, community members and many of Aidan’s colleagues and volunteers from the Critical Home Repair and New Home Construction programs.
The celebration marked something the couple had struggled to find on the open market: an affordable home where they could prepare for their baby’s arrival and begin building their family’s future. Aidan said he’s
