Kimberly V.
Rooted in Stability
As a single mother of three and a Hobby Lobby team lead, Kimberly knows how important stability is. She and her three daughters once had only 30 days to move out of their former home and find a new place to live.
In her Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity home application, Kimberly wrote that her search to buy a home was difficult. She and her children moved into her parents’ three-bedroom home, which provided temporary relief, but sharing the space was difficult, and some of Kimberly’s daughters were allergic to their grandparents’ pets.

Kimberly V. and two of her three daughters share a hub on the porch of their new Habitat home in northwest Oklahoma City.
“My need for a Habitat home is rooted in stability,” Kimberly said. “I want my children to have a safe place that will always be recognized as their home. When my family and I were given only 30 days to move out of our previous residence, the stress of deciding where to live was overwhelming for all of us.”
She turned to Habitat for an affordable path to homeownership. On May 7, 2026, two of Kimberly’s youngest daughters joined their mother to celebrate the dedication of their new Habitat home in northwest Oklahoma City.
Kimberly said her new home would bring peace of mind and lay a foundation for generational change.
“Given my background, owning a home where my children can grow and thrive has always been a dream,” Kimberly said. “My heart will be at peace knowing my door is always open should my children ever need a home to return to.”
Habitat Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland said Kimberly’s home was the nonprofit’s 1,161st home built since 1990.
“We are so happy for Kimberly and her family,” Felton Gilliland said. “Research shows that children in Habitat homes are healthier and perform better in school. Homeownership also helps families save money, which is often reinvested in their children’s education.”
