Leaving a Legacy through Habitat Homeownership

Adrine W. brought her daughter, Emmanuelle Mathea, from the Republic of Cameroon to the United States in 2017. She said they faced “difficult times,” but
she was determined to succeed in her new country. She trusted God and earned a degree from Oklahoma State University.

Today, she’s a thankful U.S. citizen working as an SSM Health radiology technologist. Her daughter is now a thriving fifth grader. Adrine celebrated her new Habitat home dedication on Nov. 7, 2024, at Cornerstone Creek. Adrine said her new home is part of the legacy she wants to leave for Emmanuelle.

“It’s a great opportunity for me today,” Adrine said. “I want to thank America for this opportunity and for being a homeowner. With inflation today, getting a house is difficult, and I’m grateful.”

In her Habitat application, Adrine stated that she wanted to buy a house so Emmanuelle could feel “at home and secure” as their American dream is shaped in “this amazing country.”

“I want to leave her a legacy, and this house is a big part of it,” she said.”
