The Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) ReStores play an important role in supporting our mission, funding several new homes each year and support to our Critical Home Repair program.
So what are the ReStores exactly?
COHFH ReStores are a unique combination of home improvement and thrift stores, offering new and gently-used items. They’re open to the public and similar to what you’ll find in other home good stores. Some examples are new flooring, paint, home décor items, rugs, furniture, appliances, cabinets, along with vintage treasures of all kinds that you won’t find anywhere else. You can also shop our items online by visiting our Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity Ebay Store.
COHFH ReStores are more than just resell stores, however, they are a vital element of the work of Central Oklahoma Habitat. When you support our COHFH ReStores by shopping, donating or volunteering, you’re not only supporting the local community, you’re also helping our mission to provide affordable housing to hard-working, limited-income families and individuals living in the Oklahoma City area. Our ReStore proceeds fund construction of three new homes per year, plus support to our Critical Home Repair program.
What does a COHFH ReStore sell?
ReStores tend to resemble a home improvement store — albeit like a unique blend of a Goodwill store and a Home Depot. You’ll find items that fit into the following categories: building materials, appliances, furniture, lawn care and household items, home décor and more. The items you’ll find will range from brand new to gently used, and there will likely be a wide range of brands and styles.
What donations does COHFH ReStore accept?
The COHFH ReStores typically accept gently-used household items or new building materials, which can include a wide variety of products. ReStore donations come from all kinds of sources — from your neighbor after a home remodel to a large restaurant chain with old furniture after remodeling. Some donated household items include furniture, appliances, TVs and light fixtures. Accepted building materials include new doors and windows, plumbing supplies, flooring, and hand and power tools.
Do you offer furniture donation pickup? What about appliances?
The COHFH ReStores offer free pickup services for many items. Simply go online at the COHFH donation pickup scheduler or call (405) 595-2828 to book your next pickup time.
How do ReStores help the environment?
When gently used household items are donated to a COHFH ReStore and then sold at a discount to a community member who needs it, those items are recycled and kept out of the landfill.
How can I support ReStore?
In all kinds of ways! When you shop or donate at a ReStore, you’re automatically supporting not only your local affiliate, but also the Habitat mission worldwide. Additionally, ReStores are always looking for volunteers.
