It’s that time of year again, and shopping season is upon us!
Save time and money and head to your local ReStore to pick up items on your shopping list. New items are collected and/or purchased each week and then processed for resell in our stores. The inventory changes constantly, and we promise there are plenty of gems waiting to be plucked for thoughtful gifting.
The Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) ReStores take great care to ensure all items are in good condition, electrical items are in working order, and pieces are free from stains and significant damage. In addition to the great finds you will uncover, by shopping at ReStore you are also contributing to your community with a percentage of your purchase going to support COHFH’s mission to provide affordable, sustainable housing for Oklahomans in need. Rest assured, your biggest regret will be that you didn’t begin gifting by shopping the ReStores years ago!
Prep your list, check it twice, and stop into ReStore to grow your gift stash for loved ones and friends this year. Below are some fabulous, yet simple ideas for your next shopping spree:
Hostess Gifts
Check out the glassware, party platters and pitchers. Bake some cookies or candy, and deliver something special to your hostess. Occasionally, there are dish sets still in the box. Cake stands are another huge hit, since you could present this to someone with a homemade cake or a special cake recipe.
Trays
ReStores are full of all kinds of trays and platters. These can be made into great things such as chalkboards, jewelry plates for rings and bangles and even bird feeders. Something can be made from a tray or platter for just about everyone on your list.
Mason Jars
There really are so many things you can do with these ReStore shop staples. You can make cookie and brownie mix in jars and tie them with a pretty ribbon and label. They make great gifts for coworkers at your next office party.
Vases
Add some fresh flowers to your vase purchase and make a special delivery to those grandmothers and aunts in your life.
Accent Furniture
Coffee tables, accent chairs, unique end tables and more! Some pieces are ready to gift as-is, or you could dive into Pinterest and search out some DIY ideas to add a truly personal touch. Looking to add new playroom furniture to your child’s room? Small dining sets work great as craft tables, where crayons, tea parties, and paint can run amuck without fear of damaging a family heirloom.
Household Electronics
Microwaves, blenders and refrigerators arrive weekly and are available at incredibly discounted rates. Already have a fridge? How about an additional one in the garage to hold all that extra food for the holiday meals with extended family?
Giving gifts made with the new and gently used items that you find while thrift shopping is a wonderful way to save money, recycle and be creative. For our local ReStore location and hours, visit our website at cohfh.org.
